I don't know what if anything can be done about it but there's no way I am keeping a brand new laptop that whistles.

I flipped it over and it seems like it's something to do with the bottom case and how to air is traveling through the perforations. What I've noticed is that it's coming from the bottom right (as you are looking at the laptop straight on). As soon as the fan kicks up a little, the whistle is back and again gets louder as the fan gets louder. Well, as luck would have it, this is exactly the same as the first one. I thought maybe I had gotten a defective one with a bad fan so I went back to Costco and returned it and bought another one. I asked my wife to confirm I wasn't crazy and she noticed it right away as well. As the fans turn faster, the whistle gets louder. As soon as it had been running for 15 minutes I immediately noticed a high pitched 'whistle'.

I purchased the Legion 5i from Costo with the 1660TI graphics. Lets see what the postman brings hopefully I can enjoy the new Legion without this 'feature'. I did educate myself prior and looked alot of the tests from legion 5 no one mentioned that sound also Linus Tech tips said thats only a 'wooosh ' sound and no wining. I dont know if the past years i has been established that every gaming notebook has this noise. I also had an HP Pavillion 15 gaming with iti this was much more annoying that the legion. Dont know if i could live with the annoying noise got the system around 970 Euros on Amazon Prime Day deals and my other Laptop is nearly 6 years old. I suggested to them to send me the heatpipes and fans so i could change it myself but they said, if i do that i will loose warranty so I returned it and ordered another one at amazon and sees if it has the same whining noise. One technician said yes its normal another one said its not normal and i should send in. Going to test that later tonight.Thanks for your reply, I also talked to lenovo and the also were not sure if the whining sound is normal or not.

I do NOT experience any whine or pitch from the stream pc output INTO the mixer or from the mixer control room to speakers. I've also Tried the sub outputs from the mixer with same results. As mentioned I've tried different cables and I've also tried different connection points on the stream pc. I'm suspicious because of fact it seems to be 'eqable'. I suspect a ground loop isolator MAY be helpful here. Should all end up on the same outlet however. I'm trying to keep everything on the same ground and powerstrip, but there may be something on a different power strip. I've tried swapping cables thinking they are bad etc.Д¤. I only receive this on the input to the stream pc. It does not appear to be related specifically to the cabling between the mixer and the streaming PC's audio interface since I can use the EQ to 'adjust it' on the mixer.ДЈ. It does not appear to be related to anything from my original single PC setup.Дў. So I've thus been able to deduce the following:ДЎ. If I route the audio over the HDMI cable to the stream PC it functions but this is messy and I'd like to separate it into two sound sources. It ONLY occurs when connecting to the stream PC. USB connection (gaming pc) does not receive this noise.

I would expect it to appear no matter what on the stream PC. If it was the cabling causing the noise, I wouldn't expect to be able to eq it out on the mixer. What concerns me is I appear to be able to 'eq it out' on the mixer which makes no sense. It appears 'cyclic' which makes me think some kind of electrical interference or ground issue. I prefer the UCA200 for sound quality and latency, but no matter what I am getting a very high pitched and 'rhythmic' noise on the stream PC recording input from the main outs (also tried sub outs. I've tried going directly from the mixer into the onboard sound (terrible via chipset), and also to a behringer UCA200. Introduce the second PC and I've tried several assorted methods of connecting it up. Had no hums or high pitched noises or anything. The entire setup has been functioning from a single PC pov for awhile.
